Master of None. The best way to describe this series is as a self-mockumentary. Using somewhat of a Seinfeld show like pattern, Master of None follows the life of Aziz Ansari, a youngish actor dealing with his immigrant background and upbringing as he tries to break into the worlds of comedy and film and television…basically anyone who will hire him to act. The humor is very subtle and very dry and I found it hysterical. Admittedly, there were moments when it was so subtle that I started to get a little bored. But when it is funny, it is extraordinarily funny and, perhaps more importantly, many of the episodes are sprinkled with truly insightful and enlightening observations. Be patient with this one and I really think it will repay your effort.
